December 8 - Message for Families

Good afternoon! Today is Wednesday, December 8 and we have a few announcements/reminders for Raiders and their families.

1.       Winter Clothing

We have been reminding students regularly that it is Canada and it is Winter and there will be times when they will be expected to be outside. Students are only barred from outside when the temperature is colder than -15. All Raiders must come prepared for outdoor activities, gym class, Raider Time, and bus duty. This means coat, boots, hats, and mittens. There is no indoor supervision available for students who refuse to be prepared to be outside.

2.       Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair continues until this Friday. If your child missed their favourite book, you can still order online and have items shipped directly to you, using the link below:

3.       Pizza

Mr. Vincent and our Gr. 8 Team continue to provide Pizza for our Raiders. It is available on the days that students are in the cafeteria for lunch (normally Thursday or Friday). Although there will be no Pizza next week (Dec 13-17), we will offer Pizza on all four days of the week of Dec 20-23.

4.       Holiday Activities Dec 20-23

We have a few fun activities planned for the last week of school (see the schedule below). Please note that school closes on Thursday, December 23, 2021 and does not reopen to students until Monday, January 10, 2022.

5.       Forgotten Items

We are inundated daily with families dropping off forgotten items. This interrupts learning and sets a bad example to students. Please remember, as we try to foster independence and responsibility in our Middle School students, forgotten books, shorts, projects, phones etc. should be the student’s responsibility. If forgotten, they will face a consequence and likely not forget again. The only items that should be dropped off would be a forgotten lunch (as we certainly would not want them to go without food).

Please support RVMS by not bringing items to the school if students forget them at home.

As always, please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions or concerns.

Ms. McGrath
